Thanks Children's Hospital Boston!

The day has finally come! After 13 days, we have been officially discharged from the hospital. Baby Silas is doing well. He will be two weeks old tomorrow, and he is finally spending his first night outside of a hospital. We are overjoyed and of course nervous for our first night without the careful watch of nurses and breathing and heart monitors.

We are so grateful for the wonderful care he received at Children's Hospital Boston. It is truly a miracle that we were able to be at such an amazing place and able to work with such extraordinary doctors and nurses. We now understand why this place is considered the best children's hospital in the country.

After two successful neurosurgery procedures in his first two weeks of life, Silas is doing amazingly well. Here are some glimpses into our lives over the past two weeks and the people who have helped Silas face his challenging first few days of life.

Dr. Warf, who performed the lifesaving neurosurgery on Silas.

Silas already misses Elizabeth...

And Colleen...

Silas had his follow-up ultrasound Saturday to verify that the surgery to treat his hydrocephalus was successful. His lateral ventricles have reduced significantly, so the surgery appears successful so far. We hope our appointment next Wednesday will confirm this wonderful news.

Before he could be discharged, Silas had to pass the "car seat test" -- he had to sit in his car seat for 90 minutes without setting off any alarms. He slept through it and passed with flying colors.

We finally got to bring baby Silas out of the hospital tonight (in his car seat, of course).

Baby and mommy... so happy to be home.

PS - Sada is really going to miss the art at Children's Hospital, much of which was done by former patients. Their art gallery is wonderful. Here's the painting from our room.
