It's hard to believe that Silas is now 3 months old. It's even harder to believe that two weeks ago he was undergoing brain surgery up at UCSF. Today he seems happier and healthier than ever. He is energetic, alert, and full of surprises. He brings us joy every day, and we are so thankful for who he is and who he is becoming.
Silas is doing remarkably well following his surgery. His anterior fontanel is still a bit sunken following his shunt placement, which is normal, and his stridor (or "honk") still comes back when he's excited or starting to doze off, but we have been told not be alarmed if it takes a few more weeks to go away. He is smiling and laughing and making new happy sounds every day. We are so happy with his progress.
Now Silas is three months old and beginning to do fun baby things like smile, hold his head up, and reach out to grab things. He continues to amaze us with his patience and joy in the midst of everything he has been through these past three months (hydrocephalus, brain surgeries, three different hospitals, a move across the country, etc.). He is a tough kid.
We thought we'd post a few videos of some of the things that Silas has been doing these last few days. He is getting bigger every day. We were sad this week to have to retire much of his 0-3 month wardrobe because he's gotten too big for many of his cute old outfits.
Thanks to everyone for your continued thoughts, prayers, and support. Silas is doing great. We couldn't be happier. We'll post more news when we get back from our follow-up appointment at UCSF this Friday.
