Home again.

Silas did really well last night and we got to come home from the hospital today. The doctors wanted to monitor how well he breathed without the trach and receiving the oxygen through a nasal cannula. Silas hates anything touching his nose, so usually putting on a cannula involves some tears and a little tape, but last night he took it like a champ - no tape necessary. He spent the morning in the playroom playing in the ball bin and listening to a patient, funny man play children's songs on his guitar. I didn't cry until I heard the man say at the end that he knows how hard it is to be in a hospital then slowly put his guitar in its case and the strap over his shoulder, reach behind his chair for crutches that I hadn't noticed, and slowly walk down the hall toward the elevators. A children's hospital is sometimes the best place to remember what is really important and what is really beautiful.
We'll post more later, but we wanted to be sure to thank you all for the encouragement and prayers and let you know we're home and happy. Silas talked the whole way home in the car.
